Mesoamerican Culture, History, and Religion

Copyright Information/Legalese

We all knew there had to be a page like this, so let’s make this quick and painless. Here’s where I talk about the copyright status of content on Tlacatecco and the necessary legal disclaimers.

Copyright Situation

Material Not By Cehualli — Everything that’s not created by me is covered by whatever license the author/publisher selected for the material. When in doubt, assume it’s copyrighted.

Original Artwork by Cehualli — All original artwork by me (Cehualli) is copyrighted and may not be reproduced, altered, distributed, or otherwise exploited without express written permission from the creator, Cehualli. If you are an educator or a member of a nonprofit supporting indigenous rights and you wish to make use of my artwork in a non-commercial project, I would be happy to discuss the matter with you. Note that all original artwork by me is clearly marked as such on the page where it is displayed — if it doesn’t say “Original Artwork by Cehualli,” I didn’t create it, and you need to work under the guidelines given for Material Not By Cehualli.

Original Writing By Cehualli — All original writing by me (Cehualli) is covered by a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License. Read what this means in regular human-speak and lawyerese.

The Attribution requirement shall be satisfied ONLY by including (1) a link back to my blog (a link to either the homepage (http://tlacatecco.com) or the address of the specific article are both acceptable), AND (2) a note attributing authorship of the material originating on Tlacatecco to Cehualli. No other methods will satisfy the Attribution requirement.

Finally, there is a reasonable limit on how much may be shared/reproduced — I forbid mirroring Tlacatecco, or reposting such a large quantity of my work as to approach mirroring my blog. I want to stimulate discourse, not copycats.

Nothing contained within this blog/website should be construed as encouraging or inciting any illegal or actionable behavior. 1. Saludos,

You have a lot of great information on your website. I was wondering if it was possible to do a link exchange. My website is http://www.TheCodexoftheNightSky.com. It’s a website dedicated to interpreting Mesoamerican iconography as constellations in a comprehensive and artistic manner. There’s still a lot of material I have to upload and content to write however the skeleton is there. Please take a look and let me know if you wouldn’t mind posting a link to my site on your website.

    Hi Fernando!

I swung by your site and took a look. You have some beautiful illustrations and animations up there, and it’s a very creative way of teaching culture! That was a particularly good catch with the irregularity in the foot of one of the figures in Gemini, and a great way of tying in that element of Tezcatlipoca. I’ve added you as a link under the Archaeology & Anthropology section. I also give you permission to link my site on yours as well. 🙂

    Thanks!
    Cehualli
