Maquahuitl
A quick update today — I came across a link to an interesting little website devoted to the study of the Aztec sword-club, the macuahuitl (also spelled maquahuitl). They even have a new forum for people to discuss traditional Mesoamerican weapons. Cool. Click to visit Maquahuitl, and tell ’em Cehualli sent you. <g>

Mine too! You’re welcome. I’ll keep an eye out for more experimental archaeology sites like this for other parts of the Aztec arsenal. Maybe I can cover more weaponry and armor. I recently got my hands on the Codex Mendoza, and it has quite a bit of interesting stuff about the ritual warrior battledress and shield designs. I may write an article about those soon, if people are interested.

Dude! Why can’t I get to the forum? You know, I own one of these. And an atlatl based on the late post classic design, as well. I’ve also got a copper celt, an actual artifact, that I remounted and use as a ritual tool. I’m all about the weapons. Must- see- forum!!!
